Pictures from Saturday, May 15, 1999

Although the One Lap hasn't "officially" begun yet, we went through Registration and Tech today at the Ypsilanti Marriott hotel, which is a *very* nice hotel, especially relatively speaking to where we'll be staying the rest of the week (hotels with available rooms at about 3am in the middle of nowhere!).

I'm actually driving the Seven this year along with my father, J.M., and Guy Boulanger and Jim LaFevers are driving the Eclipse. Both are *very* skilled drivers, and Guy flew in from France just for this event.

So far the car is running 100%, the brakes are perfect (we threw on new Panther pads last night in preparation for the hard 5,000 miles), re-bled the brakes, and we're all set. We've even got a fresh turbo on the car (because of some concerns that there was a manufacturing defect previously, which appears to have been incorrect).

It was great to talk to all of the One Lappers we met last year, and so far the field looks *very* strong, first overall (assuming the cars all make it through the week!) looks like a toss-up between one of the Mallett Vettes, the pro-driven Diablo, and the Mosler Raptor. Only time will tell..

Time to get some sleep in prepation for tomorrow's festivities.
