Hi there,

I was recently talking with an uncle regarding tire usage in the One Lap. As I understand it, contestants are required to run one (and only one) set of tires during the whole event. But, as I also understand, some contestets were no abiding by that rule (I'm not pointing any fingers here).

A lot of debate has come up about allowing the Moslar Raptor to compete, since it is not a "production car" as we know it. I agree with a statment previously made on this message board: One should be allowed to run any car they want to and are able to. Thats what the One Lap is about. BUT, I do not believe that a team should be able to get away with tire changes during the event. Not only is it "against the rules" of the One Lap, but it is completely unfair to the other contestants who follow the rules.

The event rule of running 'speced' Michelin tires is a good start to making things more fair and enjoyable for contestants. What needs to be done though are routine checks to make sure no one is running new tires on each drag run, or on the final event. In my opinion, it is better (more fair) to run a Moslar Raptor, than to run new tires after each event.
