The results are in: our Neon is the fastest! We finally ran the 1/4 mile at Memphis after
running the road course. Jim drove both events, and on his first ever 1/4 mile run in a Neon,
he pulled a 15.7 ET, over half a second faster than Dale Seeley's #67 Neon, one and a half
seconds faster than the #71 Neon, and over two and a half seconds faster than the #69 Neon.
The car is also quite a bit faster than that, but everyone's times were a bit slower than
usual, so the starter informed us. I'd imagine low 15's are feasible, but we'll wait to find
that out until we get the car on a track sometime over the summer.

Unfortunately, Jim wasn't quite as fast on the road course event at Memphis, but we still
placed in the 30's overall and 3rd in class. Jim got stuck behind a Porsche Boxster for quite
a while and lost very valuable time. Now we know not to run anything in front of the Neons! :)

We also found out the results from the second event at Phoenix from two days ago, and sure
enough, we did clobber the other Neons! I beat the closest one, Dale Seeley's #67, by over
-ten- (10) seconds. That gave us a 23rd overall and 2nd in class, boosting us back into the game,
right ahead of all the other Neons and 3rd in class at 31st overall. We've still got two events
to go to try to make it into the 20's overall and hopefully 2nd in class, but we'll see how that
quest goes! It should be a lot of fun running at Michelin's Test Track in Greenville, SC,
and finishing up at Watkins Glen, though we'll again be at a disadvantage as almost every other
driver knows the track by heart, and it will only be my second time running it. Hopefully the
car's power will be able to overcome my unfamiliarity with the track. I'll let you know
Saturday night! At least I'll know the track for next year..

I've also put up over 80 pictures from today's event at the road course and the drag strip.
You'll find pictures of almost every car at the event. Enjoy! They'll be clickable when
I return Sunday night and am able to upload all the full-sized pictures.
