After the morning session, we were back in 5th Overall, as we finished 6th Overall in the morning while Mallett finished 4th Overall, placing him 5 points ahead of us going into the afternoon session. Although I again drove conservatively in the afternoon session as it was still a bit greasy out there, after braking for the Kink on my first hot lap, I hit the dip in the Kink which caused the front end of the car to float a bit more than I would have liked. Thinking everything was going to be just fine, I kept on with my pace, put 2 wheels on the extra asphalt at the track out point and started setting up for the next corner. As I did so, I reached the end of that extra asphalt patch, where I discovered, to my dismay, a huge pothole. As soon as the front left wheel hit it, the rear end of the car snapped right around. I corrected, but then ran out of room as I slid off into the grass at about 100mph. Fortunately the car stayed on the ground, and after collecting my thoughts, I made my way back onto the front straight, just behind Kryder, who had started 15 seconds behind me. All in all we lost approximately 17 seconds with that small adventure, but fortunately the car was fine and we stayed 5th Overall, despite finishing 20th Overall in the afternoon session. J.M. drove the Eclipse today to an awesome 28th Overall finish in the morning, and 38th Overall in the afternoon. In the morning session J.M. had an awesome run and caught the two cars in front of him, which made for some very intense in-car footage! It was nice to see so many familiar faces from the Cleveland DSM group as well as the Akron Sports Car Club - thanks a lot for showing up guys!
